In the summer of 1981 a 10-year old girl is left behind with an aunt when the rest of her family goes to Africa as aid workers. The aunt, soon courted by a man, leaves the girl with the promise to return 'in just a few days'. The girl doesn't tell anyone that she is now completely abandoned and the summer passes by.
