Reviews:

Wanna feel old? This is the Foo Fighters' sixth full-length. Doesn't it feel like Kurt Cobain called it a day in the early '70s right alongside Jim, Jimi and Janis? Anyway, onto recent history: Foo sales exploded after Dave Grohl's solo guitar rendition of "Everlong" at Live Earth'"a moment eerily reminiscent of Gavin Rossdale performing Bush's "Glycerine" solo in the rain at an MTV spring break show, except it wasn't raining this time and "Everlong" doesn't totally suck'"so clearly, fans are primed for new material. It's the band's first time hooking up with producer Gil Norton since singles-factory The Colour and the Shape ("Everlong," "My Hero," "Monkeywrench"), which they've never been able to quite match. Grohl is certainly capable of cranking out catchy, poignant stuff any and everywhere on the pop spectrum. Let's hope this time around we're getting the best, the best, the best, the best of Foos.
