Sony's Gold: Greatest Hits Collection includes many of the big names in popular music - Bob Dylan, Meat Loaf, Johnny Cash and many others. No surprise then to find Deep Purple on the list, and here we have the definitive collection. Most of the firm favourites are recorded live; seven at Schleyer-Halle, Stuttgart and four from the NEC, Birmingham for the 25th Anniversary tour in 1993 featuring the classic line-up of Ian Gillan, Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Roger Gover and Ritchie Blackmore. And the NEC show was one of Blackmore's last ever with the band. He walked out after the Helsinki concert in November that year
