Barnes and Hampton are well known for interesting arrangements of Celtic music for harp, Renaissance lute and guitar, and on this CD they apply their skills to traditional Christmas carols, both known and some gems which deserve to be heard more at the season. The instrumental performances are enhanced by the addition on some tracks of winds (flute, tin whistle recorders) and unusual percussion ( dumbek, frame drum, riq, daf, cymbals bells) which brings out the festive qualities of this music.
