Chicago's Rise Against is anything but a single-minded musical outfit. An astounding fusion of unhinged power, ear-grasping melodies, stimulating lyrics and the ability to reach audiences in both underground and mainstream circles, they have redefined the rules.

Reviews:

''Appeal to Reason'' is the fifth studio album by American punk rock band Rise Against. After touring in support of their previous album, ''The Sufferer & the Witness'', Rise Against began recording ''Appeal to Reason'' in January 2008 at the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado. Recording and production were finished in June, and the album was released in North America on October 7, 2008. The album is the band's first release with current guitarist Zach Blair. The album has been ceritified platinum by the CRIA.

''Appeal to Reason'' is Rise Against's highest charting album, debuting at number three on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart and selling 64,700 copies in its first week of release. It received generally favorable reviews from critics. The album produced three singles: "Re-Education (Through Labor)", "Audience of One", and "Savior". - Wikipedia

Pop-punk wasn’t always shrill and vapid; this Chicago outfit is proof, bringing their considered, infectious riffs to the table for nine years now and finally preparing to taste the fruits of all that hard labor. 2006 predecessor The Sufferer and the Witness was a critical and commercial hit, affording the boys and opening slot for My Chemical Romance. Appeal to Reason is primed to be the PETA-loving punks’ breakout.
