Double vinyl LP pressing. 2024 release. Welcome To The Plains is the debut album from Wyatt Flores. Across it's 14 epic tracks, Wyatt writes about home, happiness, family and the place that raised him - Stillwater, Oklahoma. The album is happy on one side and heartbreak on the other. It's powerful storytelling and tight musicianship create a classic album for the ages that is a true front to back experience.

Drawn from two sessions recorded in December 1969 and December 1970, and not first released until 1995, Kofi found Donald Byrd in the early stages of his transformation from top-notch hard bop trumpeter to fusion pioneer. Byrd had already begun to move away from a pure hard bop sound with his album Fancy Free in the Spring of 1969, and the two Kofi sessions straddled the recording of his adventurous fusion album Electric Byrd. The first Kofi session subtly explored a new realm of sounds on Byrd�s originals �Kofi� and �Fufu� with producer Duke Pearson�s electric piano shimmering underneath textured arrangements featuring Lew Tabackin on flute and tenor saxophone, Frank Foster on tenor saxophone, William Campbell on trombone, Ron Carter on acoustic bass, Bob Cranshaw on electric bass, and Airto Moreira on drums. The following 1970 session produced two more vibey Byrd originals��Perpetual Love� and �Elmina��adding Wally Richardson on guitar and Mickey Roker on drums with Moreira playing percussion along with Dom Um Rom�o.

Memphis-born trumpeter Booker Little was a bright light of the jazz world who died tragically young at age 23. A prodigiously talented hornman as well as a composer, Little first came to prominence as a member of Max Roach�s band which he joined in 1956 after the death of Clifford Brown, another trumpet great gone far too soon. Little only made a handful of albums as a leader during his brief career including his astounding debut Booker Little 4 & Max Roach recorded in 1958 for United Artists when he was just 20 years old. The full breadth of Little�s artistry leaps out of the grooves with his brilliant tone, astonishing technique, and inventive lines matched by Roach�s fiery drums throughout this engaging set that also featured George Coleman on tenor saxophone, Tommy Flanagan on piano, and Art Davis on bass. The album opens with Miles Davis� �Milestones� and includes the standards �Sweet and Lovely� and a stunning version of �Moonlight Becomes You,� but the album�s centerpiece is the trio of Little originals: �Rounder�s Mood,� �Dungeon Waltz,� and �Jewel�s Tempo.�

A bruising and shadowy return to form from original Smashing Pumpkins members Jimmy Chamberlin, James Iha, and Billy Corgan. Recorded in the immediate aftermath of their 33-song concept album, �Atum�, 'Aghori Mhori Mei' harkens back to the band�s early 90�s canon; where guitars, bass, drums, and spiking vocals ruled.

Quantum Baby is the second installment in Tinashe�s BB/ANG3L album trilogy. The first in the series, BB/ANG3L, was released Fall �23 and was followed by the BB/ANG3L tour and Tinashe�s first Tiny Desk performance. Tinashe began teasing the hit single �Nasty,� this past Spring, debuting the song at Coachella 2024. The song quickly went viral, to become the song of the summer. This led to everyone asking the most prevalent question of the summer: �Is somebody gonna match my freak?� �Quantum Baby is about getting to know me on a deeper level. It's about exploring who I am as a person and who I am as an artist. I�ve never been one to be put into a box, so the name Quantum Baby encompasses all the different parts that make up who I am as a creative,� says Tinashe, describing the album as �forward, hot and lots of bass!�

Born out of her time on the road,�Samara Joy�took her touring band into legendary Van Gelder Studios in February of 2024. This record, appropriately entitled�Portrait, is a collection of standards (as well as one original) and features her singular voice, alongside arrangements from this tight-knit young group. The recording tells the story of the community she�s created with a new generation of young players and is evocative of the energy of her incredible live show.

Maggie Antone's voice has always won people over. Singing along to the radio from her carseat, it first won her parents over—enough so that they supported her through voice lessons, musical theater, and national anthem gigs around her hometown of Richmond. Later, with her recording of Tyler Childers's "Lady May," Antone's voice would win the Internet over, too, gaining so much praise that she would go on to release an entire collection of covers, Interpretations, the following year. But lately, the fans at Antone’s packed-out gigs are singing every word to her songs: After all, even if her voice is what draws you in, it's the vulnerability of her songwriting that will keep you coming back. Antone’s forthcoming Rhinestoned offers ten songs worth of compelling evidence that this Virginia native just might be country’s next big thing. Out August 23rd, 2024 on her own label Love Big via Thirty Tigers, the album only builds on the runaway success of her debut original single “Suburban Outlaw”—a song Holler praised for "lyrics that land like zippy teen movie one-liners." Raucous, witty, and irresistible, album opener "Johnny Moonshine" shows off Antone’s flare for storytelling one croon-worthy double entendre at a time. On the timeless "Mess with Texas," Antone leans into her honky-tonk sensibilities, playfully recounting the exes she collected across various locales before landing on the real thing in the Lone Star State. And standout track "High Standards" contrasts evocative harmonies with biting wordplay, delivering a blunt tell-off to a presumptuous stoner on a late night gone hazy. The clever lyrics and catchy melodies make fitting vessels for Antone's larger-than-life charisma and natural stage presence—qualities she'll show off on the road this summer during gigs with Kat Hasty, the Red Clay Strays and 49 Winchester as well as on stages at Bonnaroo, Bourbon & Beyond, and Foxfire. But for all the hard-partying lyrics and self-deprecating jokes, Antone's biggest strength on Rhinestoned may be her willingness to show weakness. "I don't write love songs," she sings on "Everyone But You," "'cause I don't wanna sing 'em when the love is gone." The slow tempo of "I Don't Wanna Hear About It," a heartbreaker that mourns a breakup even while wishing the person well, lays bare Antone’s emotional vocals. And Antone is perhaps her most raw on the closing track, "Meant to Meet," a song about the vices and shortcomings that can wreck a relationship—even one that feels fated. "With situationships and such nowadays, it feels like no one is looking for the real thing anymore," she says. "This album, and that song specifically, is for the people who didn't get the ‘I'm sorry’ text. I want it to be closure for people who need it." In some ways, opening up like this comes naturally to Antone; she's been writing songs since she was 16. But she's quick to credit her collaborators in the studio and the writing room for the way they've embraced and emboldened her. While several songs were solo writing endeavors ("Suburban Outlaw," "One Too Many," “Me & Jose Cuervo”), Antone leaned into co-writes: Trent Dabbs (Ingrid Michaelson, Kacey Musgraves), Aaron Raitiere (Lady Gaga, Ashley McBryde), Jillian Jacqueline (Keith Urban, Little Big Town), and others all contributed. Working with longtime writing role model Natalie Hemby (the Highwomen, Miranda Lambert) on “Johnny Moonshine” was a particular high point: "Natalie is my hero," Antone says. "She's the first songwriter that I ever truly loved." And frequent writing partner Carrie K. (Noah Kahan, Jessie Murph, Suki Waterhouse) helped bring Rhinestoned to life alongside Antone as her co-producer. "Working with Carrie,” Antone says, “I felt like all my thoughts were seen.” What emerged is a work that offers Antone's raspy drawl space to shine and her big heart room to heal. "Sometimes you don't have that full love story where you meet someone, you fall in love, you date for a long time, you break up, and then you're upset; sometimes we just have these short-lived little things," she says. "This album is about a million of those teeny tiny little things, all wrapped up into one story. No matter how big or small it is, when you’ve gone through something and you hurt, it matters."

The strength of the�Akira�soundtrack lies in its unique blend of traditional Japanese instruments and futuristic electronic sounds.�Yamashiro weaves together an eclectic mix of influences, creating a sonic landscape that mirrors the dystopian and cyberpunk themes of the movie. The use of traditional chants, taiko drums, and shakuhachi flutes alongside electronic synthesizers and orchestral elements generates a hauntingly mesmerizing atmosphere that perfectly complements the visuals on screen. The composer also drew from the chants of noh, traditional Japanese theater. Combined with polyrhythmic drum machine beats and synths tuned to gamelan microtonal scales, these styles give a sense of ritualistic tension to the dystopian world of "Akira."
